Scientists estimate that nearly half of all the species living on this planet, both plants and animals, dwell in the rainforests. With more richness and complexity than any other ecosystem in the world, the Amazon Basin holds magical surprises for the nature traveler. In Ecuador the basin is called the Oriente and the special lodge we have chosen offers some of the best locales to experience the sights and sounds of the Amazon. Day and night walks reveal monkeys, birdlife and other wildlife in large numbers, boat trips give us rare insight into the life of the indigenous people, and on-site guides offer detailed nature interpretation that will captivate all who visit.

About our Ecuadorian Amazon Lodge Trips
The itineraries vary according to the number of days. Activities generally include a variety of guided nature walks, early morning birding excursions, and canoe trips on the rivers and small lakes.
5-Day Extension - (Monday-Friday)
Day 1: Fly to Coca. Overnight at Sacha Lodge.
Days 2 - 4: Activities at Sacha Lodge.
Day 5: Fly back to Quito.
4-Day Extension - (Friday-Monday)
Day 1: Fly to Coca. Overnight at Sacha Lodge.
Days 2 & 3: Activities at Sacha Lodge.
Day 4: Fly back to Quito.
Activities at Sacha Lodge Trips
Located close to the Napo River in an area called La Providencia, Sacha Lodge houses only 20 traditional thatched-hut style raised cabanas, each with private terraces and private bathroom and shower facilities as well as deck hammocks overlooking the rainforest. Sacha boasts a rainforest observation tower, a butterfly farm, and a nearby parrot clay lick attracting hundreds of birds. Activities: Guided walks both day and night, excursions by dugout canoe and canopy viewing from a 135ft. observation tower.

Physical Requirements
The nature walks on this extension are relatively easy and tend to move at a slow pace in order to better spot wildlife. Bear in mind that it is hot and humid in the Amazon year round.
